Dear Gator Run families,
Gator Run Parents, when was the last time you dumped a jar of change into the trash? Probably never, right? Well, that’s basically what you’re doing every time you toss out certain products in your house, like Kleenex, Ziplock, Avery or Cherrios boxes. Such products contain Box Tops which are actually dimes in disguise. These little dimes in disguise helped Gator Run raise approximately $3,700 last year. With your help, we hope to raise over $4,000 this year.
Box Tops are the little rectangles found on many of the products you purchase on a weekly basis. All you need to do is clip the Box Tops and send them to school with your child. We’ll be holding 3 grade wide contests this year to see which class in each grade turns in the most Box Tops. Winning classes will receive a special prize. At the end of year, the classes that turn in the most Box Tops overall will win a grand prize and get bragging rights for their grade.
How can you help your child’s class be successful? Start scouring your pantries & offices for Box Tops products. Tell extended family members to do the same. It’s an easy way to get grandparents involved in their grandchildren’s school. Make sure the Box Tops contain the 10 cent symbol and that they’re neatly clipped around the dotted line
. This is important as it will save our Box Tops committee from having to re-cut them if they aren’t suitable for submission. Place your Box Tops in a baggy with the teacher’s name and grade.
If there’s no teacher listed on the bag, your child’s class won’t get credit. There’s no minimum amount to send in and you can send them in as often as you like. Also, be sure to join the Box Tops website, www.btfe.com

The next Box Tops contest deadline is Friday, February 6th.
Please remember to make sure each Box Tops contains the 10 cent symbol and that they’re neatly clipped around the dotted line. Place them in a baggy with your child’s teacher’s name so the class gets credit. The winning classrooms will be rewarded with ice cream parties once again.

Register to Volunteer at Gator Run
The first time you come in to volunteer for the school year, you MUST bring the ID that you used to register online in order to activate your STAR badge. This can be done NOW by going to www.getinvolvedineducation.com and following the directions posted. Please note that if you volunteered more than 4 hours last year, you do not need to reapply. This is new for this year.
Due to the large number of applications received by Broward County, their processing may take one to two weeks.
*There are many opportunities to volunteer at Gator Run. In order to volunteer in the classroom or at any Gator Run event, you MUST complete the Broward County Volunteer Application process online and wait for the county approval.
